Final Stadium Screen

I was able to get the keeper and ball in there. I also animated the keeper crowd and ball. After the ball went in the net I also made an additional animation that would lead the next level in the game.

WEEK15 Research

These are the two props (soccer ball, keeper)  I pan on introducing to my stadium. I will also look to come up with some sort of animation. Perhaps make the keeper move from side to side.

WEEK14 Improved GAME PAGE

I cleaned up my game page and gave it a better animation. I thought the soccer ball wasn't the best as it was a little distracting. This layout looks a lot more clean and attractive. The christ statue adds some culture and an iconic part of Brazil to give the game page a better fill. The animation is subdle but works well with the game page.

WEEK14 research

This is the research I drew on how I want to improve my game screen. I would like to add the El Cristo  statue to my game screen as it is an iconic part of Rio brazil and would make mu game screen more attractive. On photoshop I would like to make him overlooking the soccer stadium that is in my original game screen.

Rock Paper Scissor improved

I brought my rock paper scissor project into photoshop re-created it. The bottom part is the only piece remainting from my original project. I tried to make this almost like a game card. The graphic in the back I found on the internet and works well with the project.

Improving my Game Screen

This is my new game screen. I completley re-did the stadium. Notable changes include the grass color, now darker, the Brazil flag has been improved, I have also added shadding to the stadium and the sky. The crowed looks a little more realistic, as the closer the fans are the bigger the pixels are. In the second level you can see the fans look further than those in the first floor.
Another improvement I would like to make is to add this soccer ball I made in maya and maybe even a goalie made in poser.

Stadium Improvement research

To improve my stadium, I wanted to bring it into Maya in order to create crass on the pitch. However, as you can see here, the grass in soccer stadiums is synthetic and shortly cut. Therefore, I will instead go into pixel art and apply shading to my stadium. I will also go into the crowd of my stadium and give it more dimension, by making the fans close to the pitch look bigger and the further look smaller.

Week 12 Maze Texturing Assignment continued

This is my maze with my upgraded textures. The holes make the house more old, spooky and dangerous looking.

Week 12 Maze Texturing Assignment

These are my two upgraded textures. I made both on Photoshop. The wood textures, I got from CG textures. The black holes are a combination of black squares in different angles.

Week 11 Maze improvement research

This is the research I came up with for upgrading my maze. The top square is the wall, where you can see a the wall paper is ripped, therefore revealing the infrastructure of the house. The bottom square is the wooden floor where you can see there are a couple holes, as the wood has become old and unstable. These would be good additions to my maze. I will go into photoshop and try to replicate these drawings.

Maze final render

This is my easy maze in Maya. I put in two lights, to light up only one corner of the haunted house. I was at times tough aligning the layers. But i'm pleased with how it turned out and becoming more comfortable with Maya.

Maze render

This is my maze render. I had to go with different texture for my floor and roof,  as the ones I had originally were not tillable.

haunted house

This is the inside to my haunted house. I ended up going with a dirty wall paper for the wall and put in a door at the end of my hallway. I was able to make the distorted carpet even a little more distorted with the wand tool.

maze designs

These are my easy, medium and hard mazes. They grow in size as they get harder and the hardest maze has three different starting points.

reference for maze

I am doing a haunted house. On the left you can see some wall(bottom) and floor(top) textures. the wood and stone are discolored in places, which shows it's old age. On the right, you can see a carped and painting, which are props that I will look to fit into my haunted house maze. Again you can see a theme of age in both props, as the painting is slightly discolored and the style is of an older age.

Final bigger prop

This is the final bigger prop. You can see the Brazil theme with the flags and cowed. I put in some Nike advertisement for a realistic touch. For the fans I simply used my pen tool. In the front I used 5 pixels, middle I used 3 pixels and back on 1. From colors ranging from yellow green and blue.

Larger prop research 2

This is my larger prop (stadium, goal, field) layout. I drew it to have a  reference  to when creating the stadium from scratch in photoshop. I will try to create the stadium with ellipses and the field, goal, wall, lines by using rectangular shapes.

bigger prop research

This is my bigger prop. including the grass and goal. I might just create the goal post on photoshop and get the netting from the internet and combine the both. As far as the grass, I might try a brush that is structured to look like grass.

prop with color

This is my  image. I used two base colors with a medium, light and dark. I had to re-do my pallet as the colors didn't quite go with each other.

line work and color palette

my line work was of a soccer ball (main object in my game). For the pallet i chose white and yellow. To represent Brazil(yellow) and a regular soccer ball color (white). For each color I chose a light, medium and dark to ad shading and dimension to the soccer ball

Final game page

For my final game page, I decided to put my logo right above the options but leave some space to show the stadium. That way I could still use my animation. I decided not to animate my logo as I though it might of been too much between the two.

Logo

This is my logo at it's final stage. I stuck with the same color theme (brazil) as the game page, in order to help the two go along. It's simple and straight forward, yet i think it looks good and represents the main elements of the game.

logo drawing

For my logo drawing, I went with a fairly simple layout. Where the tittle was the concentration of the logo. behind that i put a defender behind a soccer ball to represent what the game was about. I marked the 3 colors, green, yellow and blue to represent that Brazil theme to it. Extra were the stars above the logo. Symbolic of many soccer team logos.

thumb nails. logo

for my thumb nails, played around with the layout of the logo, what the main shape was and where the title fit in. I went with the 6th thumb nail as i though it was the best layout for the logo and it best represented my game.

logo research

For my research I looked up different logos that incorporated a soccer theme. Paying close attention to layout, shapes and fonts. The fox soccer logo caught my eye the most. I like the font and logo, it looks crisp and eye catching. The colors I would need to change in order to make it fit my game. I would like the incorporate the colors green, yellow, blue into the logo. And the title of my game "defender runner".

Game Page with animation

I wanted to keep it fairly simple, due to the fact that this serves a a home page for the game only. I created the animation where the soccer ball appears to be kicked out of the stadium and lands under the game options. After it lands, the ball rolls from side to side before settling in to the middle of the screen. After that the gamer is prompted to select one of the three possible options.

tittle page 1st draft

I created my game page to be pretty straight forward. With the icon Maracana soccer stadium (setting) in the background, the soccer ball in the middle-ground and the options on the foreground. The options I made green, yellow, blue to give it a Brazil theme. Which is an iconic soccer country and it also goes along with the Maracana stadium as it is placed in Rio, Brazil. My next step will be to make the soccer ball rotate to give the tittle screen come alive.

Title screen research

For my title page, I want to use the Maracana stadium (Setting) as the background. The soccer ball (main object) as the middle-ground and the title and options as the foreground. The layout will be based off of The Cube Runner layout however the options will simple (new game, continue or choose level.)

Game design final stage drawing

The basis of my game are the same as the game cube runner. Rather then cubes the soccer ball must dodge defenders, who are made to look like dummies defenders from a training ground. The dummies move side to side to side and faster and faster as you approach the goal. They will also increase in number as you go though the levels. In order to advance, you must avoid all defenders and the goalie  and make it inside the goal.
The setting is the iconic Maracana soccer stadium in Brazil. This game would consist of a lot of blues (sky), greens (grass) and whites (ball, lines on field, post, flag, clouds). Other colors included are black (ball, crowed, stadium, keeper) and yellow (defenders, flags sun).

Color study

My pallet mostly included a lot of green blue and grey. Green was present due to the grass(playing filed), grey the stadium in the middle ground and blue for sky. Other colors such as white (soccer ball) and red (crowd, wall/defender).

Final game concept

I want to create a pretty straight -forward game that combined soccer and a favorite game of mine, cube runner. The game would be pretty much cube runner with a soccer concept worked into it. Instead of an arrow figure, I want to make character a soccer player with a ball attached to his feet. He would be dodging defenders rather then blocks. At the end of each level there will be a goal with a goalkeeper and the character must score the goal to get though to the next level. As far as scenery, I want it to simply be a plain soccer field with perhaps the crowed in the background and the obstacles in the foreground. As you get though the levels the defenders will start to move side to side and at faster speeds, the number of defenders will also increase to make it harder as you go on.

Picture selection

Week02 Thumb nail sketches RPS

I went with the last sketch as I though that it presented the best format for getting in pictures and writing into a limited space. This setup allowed me to use pictures as almost a border and put the writing in a more centralized position. When drawing my thumb nails I tried to switch the headers position in order to see what best caught the eye.
